Membership

The membership includes:

  • tertiary music academics
  • generalist and specialist teachers at preschool, primary and secondary levels
  • studio (vocal and instrumental) teachers
  • music teachers working in various non-institutional settings
  • community music education
  • people working in various facets of the music industry which relate to music education and
  • music/music education students.

Membership of ASME includes membership of the national body and of the Chapter of the State or Territory in which the member resides.

Membership Categories

There are two categories of membership:

  • For those engaged in music education at a professional level. The annual membership subscription for full membership is currently $75.00. No GST is payable. The membership form is as a downloadable PDF.

  • For those who are studying music or music education at a tertiary institution. The annual membership subscription for student members is $30.00. No GST is payable. This membership is also applicable for retired Music Educators. The membership form is available as a downloadable PDF.

ASME Group Number for ISME Associate Membership

ASME is now a group member of ISME. All ASME members are able to access ISME resources as Associate Members. Membership ID number: 33

Privacy Statement
ASME respects your privacy.

Protecting your personal information is important to us. Although the Society is not covered by the requirements of the new Commonwealth Privacy Laws (having a turnover of less than $3 million and not liable under any other provision) we believe it is important that we meet the guidelines laid down in the new laws.

At ASME we only collect information which is necessary to administer your membership. Information we collect is used to ensure that your status as a financial member is recorded, to send regular mail outs and to keep you up to date with the various activities provided by ASME.

The membership details are strictly confidential. We do not make them available to any outside organisation or allow any person except designated office personnel and Council members to consult them. Memberships forms are destroyed after seven years in accordance with the requirements of the Australian Taxation Office and the Registrar-General's Office (ACT). As a member of ASME you may ask to see the information held about you.
