2007 Awards Announcement and Presentation
The 2007 National Awards for Excellence in School Music Education were announced by the Hon Julie Bishop MP, Minister for Education, Science and Training, on 7th July 2007. The Inaugural Awards were announced at the opening ceremony of the 40th Anniversary Conference of the Australian Society for Music Education in Perth, Western Australia. Two School Leader awards, including one Highly Commended School Leader, and eleven Teacher Awards, including one Highly Commended Teacher, were announced.
Highly Commended Teacher
In the inaugural award round the Highly Commended Teacher award was presented to Ms Julie Mayhew, Music Teacher at the Ainslie School in Braddon, ACT.
Highly Commended School Leader
The inaugural Highly Commended School Leader award was presented to Dr Geoffrey Shaw, Principal of All Saints’ College, in Bull Creek, Western Australia.
