2011 Awards Announcement and Presentation
The 2011 National Awards for Excellence in School Music Education were announced during ASME XVIII National Conference in Queensland on Sunday 3rd July 2011 by Mr Graham Perrett MP, Member for Moreton (Qld), representing The Hon Peter Garrett AM, MP, Minister for School Education, Early Childhood and Youth. Thirteen Teacher Awards including two Highly Commended Teacher Awards were announced by Mr Graham Perrett MP. The Highly Commended Awards were presented by Mr Perrett MP to their recipients.
Highly Commended Teachers
In this year's award round, two awards were made to Highly Commended Teachers. These were presented to Mr Andrew Butt, Head of Music, at the Marist College Ashgrove in Ashgrove, Queensland, and to Ms Ann Phelan, Music Teacher, at Bellingen High School and Bellingen Primary School in Bellingen, New South Wales.
