Dear ASME Qld members and music teachers everywhere in Queensland,
We all know that we have one of the best jobs going, we love music, we love making music, we love making music with others and we can’t help but share all this with others. Teaching music is a gift and a privilege, what other classes at school can sing and make music for a whole lesson and be fulfilling the curriculum?
The ASME Queensland Chapter Council has a bunch of new members this year who work in primary through to tertiary, state and private, instrumental and classroom and administration. We also have some early career and regional music teachers on board. Council members, with their collective experience and knowledge, are very keen to hear from music teachers, academics and administrators throughout the state as to what challenges you face in your daily work, what creative ideas you have in your practice and how ASME Qld can possibly help.
We are planning two webinar sessions in Term 1 and 2 and a hands on practical session combined with the annual general meeting in Brisbane in mid-September. We are continuing our advocacy for a fairer and equitable music education system across the state and are running the Young Composers Competition for primary, secondary and tertiary students to enter in a range of categories.
We would love music teachers in regional and remote schools to join ASME to broaden our professional conversations and network systems. Please pass on this email to any and every colleague you know so we can build a strong association that includes the voices of as many music educators as possible.
