2010 Awards Announcement and Presentation
The 2010 National Awards for Excellence in School Music Education were announced by Mr Brett Raguse MP, Member for Forde (Qld), representing The Hon Simon Crean MP, Minister for Education at a presentation event held at the Langford Theatre, St Hilda's School, Southport, Queensland on 3rd July 2010. One Highly Commended School Leader Award and twelve Teacher Awards including two Highly Commended Teacher Awards were announced by Mr Raguse MP. The Highly Commended Awards were presented by Mr Raguse MP to their recipients.
Highly Commended Teachers
In this year's award round, two awards were made to Highly Commended Teachers. These were presented to Ms Simone Bailey-Hough, Head of The Arts, at the Nagle Catholic College in Geraldton, Western Australia, and to Mr Craig McGown, Music/Concert Band/Boys' Education Coordinator, at the Erskine Park High School in Erskine Park, New South Wales.

Highly Commended School Leader
This year's Highly Commended School Leader, Mrs Karen Spiller, the Principal of St Aidan's Anglican Girls' School in Corinda, Queensland was unable to attend the Awards' presentation event as it coincided with her travelling overseas on holiday.
