The SA Young Composers’ Award is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2023!
*** 50th Anniversary Young Composers Award Concert and Ceremony will be held at Elder Hall, University of Adelaide, North Terrace, Adelaide SA, 5000, on Sunday November 19, 2023.
*** Special Workshop Opportunities for YCA50: In partnership with ADYO and local musicians who are forming a Jazz Big Band, we are offering additional opportunities linked to Section H of this year’s competition. Students wishing to enter a work for this division can provide a work for one of the following 3 large ensembles:
Option 1: Concert Band
Option 2: Wind Ensemble
Option 3: Big Band
Writers for these ensembles will have an opportunity to apply for a workshop session with either ADYO or a Big Band. These sessions will occur between mid-August and mid-September and allow them to gain valuable feedback from ensemble players and directors to further improve their works before final submission on Friday the 29th of September. This opportunity is available to students entering a work for Section H, as well as students who entering an arrangement in sections K or L.
