Northern Territory

As of November 2025, the Associations and Compliance section of the NT Government’s Department of Trade, Business and Asian Relations has dissolved the ASME(NT) chapter.

ASME members who reside in the Northern Territory are now accommodated within the ASME South Australian chapter. NT members are welcome to attend SA events, and will receive general communications from ASME (SA). NT members will continue to receive information distributed to ASME members from ASME National.

NT members can continue to access member-only resources in the Resource Hub by using their member login to the website.

ASME member, Elspeth Carnegie, who is a music teacher at Essington School in Darwin, has been co-opted onto the ASME (SA) Chapter Council in order to represent NT members.

Elspeth has been teaching in the NT for around 15 years, having previously worked in the public sector. She is hoping to help connect NT music teachers and work towards a culture of collaboration, collegiality, and shared learning. She warmly welcomes any NT-based music teachers to reach out to her. In her current role, she teaches students from Transition to Year 9, working with xylophones, recorders, choirs, wind band, and rock instruments. Elspeth can be contacted via email.
