Henry Gell is a 17 year old composition student in grade 12 at Elizabeth College, Tasmania. First Studying composition in 2022, Henry top scored in Music 3 that year. Continuing on with composition through the University Connections Program, they have expanded their horizons in studying a wide range of genres and styles. Henry studies music with Jennie MacDonald, composition with Brian West and clarinet with Eloise Fisher. Henry found a 2022 ASME workshop with Elena Kats-Chernin a formative experience in his early composition studies and has also benefited from conversations and feedback from Karlin Greenstreet Love and Dean Stevenson. Henry plays the clarinet in the Tasmanian Youth Orchestra, in addition to a spot of recorder and chalumeau in the Elizabeth College early music group.
