Click here to see a short video by new National President, Dr Leon de Bruin, immediately following the conference close on Friday October 1st, 2021. Leon provides an overview of the ASME XXIII National Conference which was successfully held online from Hobart over 3 days, with approximately 200 delegates registering for the conference. Delegates continue to have access to the secure conference website until March 31, 2022, so they can view and revisit recordings of the keynote presentations, all workshop and paper presentations, and information about the sponsors. The Abstracts Booklet, listing the abstracts and biographical information of all of the presenters is available here.
A highlight of the conference was the live performance of the National Young Composers Project, in which the various ASME Awards were featured. The program included Maria Grenfell’s specially commissioned work Breathe, along with the works from the four Young Composers. The works were performed by the Hobart Wind Symphony, directed by Simon Reade. This event was live-streamed for free, and the written program for this event is available here.
The conference organising committee comprised Wendy Ross (National Secretary, Tasmania) as the conference convenor, along with Paul Radford (ASME Chapter Chair, Tasmania), Andrea Marks (Tasmania Chapter Council), and Jenny Rosevear (National Treasurer, SA). All Occasions Group [AOG] was the Professional Conference Organiser for ASME XXIII, as well as ASME XXII Melbourne in 2017.
